a quilty (not guilty!) weekend

Very excited here - a girls weekend away, nothing but fun, food, sewing and laughs.
Ok, this time, I hope to finish the embroidered blocks and block one of a stitchery.
Maybe, if I get them ready, some applique blocks. I am liking the "tiskett tasket" free block of the month from Bunny Hill designs....

Wish me luck, photos will follow

setting goals

Hi again, just thought I'd update on the block progress. Naturally, didn't get the embroidery finished, so I am aiming for this weekend... Of course, a 21st birthday party and a 43degree day on Saturday may impact on those plans LOL.

this weekend's project

I'm doing all the little blanket stitch cartwheels on the embroidered blocks. Hope to finish them all and optimistically have included the silk thread to applique the pieced stars in the middle.

Getting away

Good morning! We are on our fourth consecutive 40+ degree day (averaging about 42 - which is 107 in farenheit). So, to state the obvious it is HOT. Accordingly, productivity has been low on the sewing front. However DH and I are off to the beach for the weekend, so I have as usual put together enough hand sewing to keep me busy for two weeks or so (you never know what you will feel like doing). I also have a stack of DVDs including

Curb your Enthusiasm (series 2) for some toe curling frustration!
Life on Mars (season 2) for the thrilling conclusion
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Departed

the last two are on hire

The cricket and tennis are on, so it could be a couch potato weekend with occasional excursions to the water.

Wish me luck

A road trip

My bff took me on a lovely road trip yesterday - we covered four quilt shops
finishing up at the Warburton Patchwork Tea House - what a delight!
Delicious smells of coffee and baked treats, surrounded by quilts, patterns, fabric and all things wonderful! A devonshire tea was devoured - fantastic scones and homemade jam with double cream. I highly recommend this as an outing.

I was on a quest to supplement the fabric for the Merry Go Round quilt, and each shop delivered a contribution...

All in all a fabulous Australia Day! Went to take some photos however and the camera batteries up and died. Never mind, I will certainly get back there soon.

A New Year - a new project

I always like to start something new during the Christmas break.
I am a little late getting started on anything this year, as a slight
interruption over Christmas (having to clean and repaint our Colorbond roof) intervened. I was the ground crew on call.

Anyway, that job being done, I was itching to get going on a pattern I had
bought "Merry Go Round" by American Jane patterns. I had collected Moda
Porcelain Jelly Rolls for the job, but as usual I had bought two
(not the three listed) and thought I would supplement from my stash.

Me being myself, didn't quite read the instructions fully, and found that
the strips had to be sewn together in pairs (a longish explanation needed).
So, first unpick of the year followed.

I have now pieced together 71 of the 98 units, and am now assembling some more sets.
Hope you like it.

A bit about me

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I have just managed to delete it, so here goes again...

My name is Rosalee - I'm a mum of two adults so am finding a little more time to indulge my passion for textile arts. Love to quilt and embroider and shop for supplies for them. Love a bargain :) I've also done cloth dolls, teddy bears, smocking, crazy quilts, cross stitch - and probably a few more I can't think of. I also dabble in photography, but just on a basic level.

I've been very fortunate to be part of a group of friends who meet weekly to sew and generally inspire each other. I can't tell you how many tears and belly laughs we've had. I feel strongly about the community of women, and how you really need your friends. I always feel great after our get togethers.
Hopefully, I can share with you this year's journey.
